About the Role

The Business Risk Advisor is responsible for providing advice, support and consulting on risk matters to Business Senior Leaders and their teams across the organization and in particular the IT division. You will play an integral role in the operationalization and continuous improvement of HCF’s Risk Management Framework, and the organizational embedment of HCF’s desired risk maturity and risk culture.  

What you will be doing in this role:

  • Providing risk management guidance to support sound business decision-making, whilst supporting the Business to conduct their operations within the acceptable risk parameters
  • Developing a clear understanding of Business areas to drive business risk discussions, contribute to risk assessment activities and promote risk culture.
  • Managing the process for the review and update of Divisional and Business risk profiles and risk registers, including facilitating risk workshops.
  • Conducting ‘’core’ risk management activities in accordance with the Risk Team Operational Plan; these include overseeing business incident management by Line 1 and monitoring the completion of business’ Key Risk Mitigation testing plans.
  • Supporting the review and update of relevant Policies, such as the Risk Management Framework, Risk Management Strategy, Risk Appetite Statement and Business Continuity Management policies.
  • Supporting and implementing new and improved risk management practices as part of HCF’s continuous risk maturity uplift, such as risk management methods and systems.
  • Supporting the Senior Risk Manager and the Head of Risk Management to provide group-wide risk analysis, insights and reporting to the Executive and Board Risk and Compliance Committees.

You want to utilize your critical analysis skills to translate information into meaningful insights and practical outputs, advice or solutions, to support business need [Line 1] and the objectives of the Risk team and the broader CRO division [Line 2].

  • Experience working in a risk advisory or consulting role, or in an APRA-regulated environment
  • An understanding of the IT industry
  • ‘Continuous improvement’ mindset and ability to think critically
  • Proven ability to collect relevant data, critically analyse and synthesize information and translate into meaningful and practical outputs, advice or solutions to present at a senior management level.
  • Ability to offer concise advice, while demonstrating business acumen that highlights a thorough knowledge of business objectives.
  • Effective interpersonal and written skills and a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and adopt ways of working to support team deliverables and meet business needs.
  • Desire to learn, develop your skills and grow in a supportive team environment.
  • Autonomy in managing day-to-day work delivery and ability to manage priorities to ensure objectives are met.
  • Proven willingness to work collaboratively across cross-functional disciplines.
